change or get changed
change is difficult. it’s seen as a risk. as soon as we change something we can’t be certain of the results. its a condition that in some cases become quite severe. at times, even when we know change is imminent and not doing so can harm us, we hesitate.
we’ve seen this happen in the photographic industry and the music industry where many organizations either disappeared or were severely affected. and even though we’ve seen this happen before it seems we haven’t learned our lesson.
the book industry is changing, there is no doubt about that. you don’t have to be in that industry to see it. readers see it, in fact they are pushing for the change. there are many unknowns such as copyrights what is the right digital format, and they are used as reasons for not changing.
there is an opportunity here to be the first out of the gate and gain a the market share with a truly remarkable solution. but you have to embrace that change and take the risk.
change will happen. you can either create it or have it happen to you and suffer the consequences. the risk is not in the change but rather in the inertia, in staying static.
